2023/2024 Home-based Educator

HIPPY is an acronym for Homebased Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY).
This is a 30-week program that runs from September -April of the school year.
Paraprofessional are employees of the school district, work 185 days a year, and follow the school calendar.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Recruitment of families with children aged 2-4 for their caseload.
Each paraprofessional is required to serve 23 families each year.
Gather documents and turn in application packet to Administrative Assistant for qualification into program.
Set up schedule to allow weekly visits (between 8:
00am and 3:
00pm) with each parent.
Paraprofessional will spend about an hour each week with parents modeling the HIPPY activities that are to be completed with their preschooler.
Keep records - data entry for each visit is recorded in the COPA database (training will be provided).
Maintain portfolios for each child on caseload.
Attend weekly staff meetings on Monday at HIPPY office (located at 255 Pope Street).
Role play each week's activities with the team before going into the home.
Provide parents with screening materials for the assessment of their children at beginning and end of school year.
Plan and attend monthly parent group meetings held in the evening.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Child Development Associate (CDA) ORAssociates Degree in Early Childhood or Paraprofessional Studies ORPassing score (457) on the ETS Paraprofessional Test Reliable transportation in order to conduct visits to family homes Able to work independently Organized Good communicator Team player Recommended Skills Administration Child Development Communication Data Entry Databases Self Motivation Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
