Director of Operations

ob Summary Directs the daily flow of material and production output for the plant to meet the expectations of the business plan in a Government/DoD Contracting environment. Responsibilities include assuring the safe practices are followed and promoted the practice of behavioral based safety. Assures all the Standard Operating Procedures, training certifications and Quality requirements are followed. Primary Responsibilities Coordinates production execution, manufacturing engineering, maintenance and facilities in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by General Manager. Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.  Promotes an operationally safe behavioral based safety environment. Utilizes the resources of the operations and engineering departments and coordinates with other staff members to design schedules and assure proper product flow to meet the business plan. Manages and supervises Operations Managers and Engineering staff. Responsible for creating and delivering required presentations. Collects data to monitor and control processes and generates reports for review. Provides for audits of the operation to assure process control. Determines development and training needs for the department's staff. Participates in new program and process improvement teams. Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division. Participates in strategic planning and the establishment of quality budgets. Recommends budgets to management. Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the VP/GM. Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above. Understands and lives by Esterline's ethics and business conduct policies. Participates and leads continuous improvement events. Qualifications Must be well organized, detail oriented, knowledgeable of Microsoft Office and foundation of MRP systems. Must possess ability to compose letters and correspondence. Must possess an outstanding degree of judgment, organization, planning, initiative, flexibility and creativity.   Required to perform with accuracy, concentration, alertness, and is detail-oriented.  Must be able to perform calmly and reasonably under pressure from demand for production and other urgent needs.   Must be resourceful and very creative. Physical capabilities include walking up and down steps, to various programs as the situation warrants and possibly be exposed to loud noises in manufacturing environment. Self motivated starter with demonstrated maturity and a good sense of responsibility and analytical skills.   Good communication skills and high degree of integrity.   Able to interface and perform productively with all employees.   Familiarity with manufacturing in a Government/DoD contracting environment.  Esterline Competencies Must be able to demonstrate ability in the Esterline competencies for all  employees, customer focus, ethics & values, problem solving, integrity & trust, functional/technical skills, listening, action-oriented, composure and values diversity. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
